ISO 9001, one of the most known and used standards from the world, is now under revision.

The present stage is Draft International Standard (ISO/DIS 9001:2014) and it has been made available for comments.
The main changes in the new draft relate to its format and the increased importance on risk. These include:

  • The same high-level structure used by other management system standards which will help companies implementing more than one standard;
  • The identification of risk and risk control as requirements in the standard;
  • The requirement of top management to take a more active role in aligning quality policies with business needs;
  • A number of changes in terminology.

The new version of ISO 9001:2015 must take into account the critical analyze of what happened in the quality management, problems that appeared when the quality management systems were implemented and certified.
Globally, there are 1.129.446 certifications in compliance with ISO 9001 in 2013; out of the total number,   485.554 certifications in Europa (approximately 43%), 18.450 certifications in Romania, out of which 4.514 realized by SRAC CERT (24%).
